Concerns about 'statistical invisibility' among Australia's Pasifika communities

There are calls for Australia’s diverse Pasifika communities to ensure they take part in the 2021 census, after reports some Pacific Islanders are considered ‘statistically invisible’.

In Australia’s most recent census in 2016, more than 200,000 people reported having Pacific Island ancestry, but it is widely believed the true number is much higher.
