COVID-19 Hope Toolkit Developed for Pasifika Community in 6 Translations

The Hon. Mark Coure MP, Minister for Multiculturalism and Seniors launched the COVID-19 HOPE Toolkit (Help Options for Preparedness in Emergency) for Pacific Communities in NSW on February 1st, 2022

The Toolkit is a comprehensive collection of ‘Life with COVID-19’ information in the one space, translated in Samoan, Tongan, Fijian, Cook Islands, Niuean and Fiji-Hindi.

Funded by Multicultural NSW, the COVID-19 HOPE Toolkit is compiled by Loau Donina Va’a. Two groups were established to guide the development of the toolkit. The Technical Experts Advisory Group led by Dr Jan Fizzell, Senior Medical Advisor, NSW Health and facilitated by Seini Afeaki, Chair, Core Pacific Mental Health Group. The Community Reference Group facilitated by Professor Jioji Ravulo, Chair, Social Work and Policy Studies, the University of Sydney. CORE Pacific Collective.

This Kit is complemented by Fitness videos produced by Crunch Fitness.

The toolkit will be available via the NSW Council Pacific Communities website.

On the day, the Chair of the NSW Council for Pacific Communities, Mal Fruean officially introduced the newly elected inaugural NSW Pacific Links. The NSW Pacific Links supports the work of the CORE Pacific Collective, in linking the Pacific community to relevant supports and provide advice on local issues.

To support Pacific COVID-19 preparedness and response efforts, the CORE Pacific Collective (CPC) was established in July 2021.
