There are calls for Australia’s diverse Pasifika communities to ensure they take part in the 2021 census, after reports some Pacific Islanders are considered ‘statistically invisible’.

Pacific community leaders in Sydney are calling for more culturally appropriate services, saying many of their young people feel disenfranchised and lost trying to find help in Australia.

Diverse women’s voices are often left out of discussions about security in the Pacific. This is despite this year marking two decades since the UN Security Council adopted resolution 1325 and urged countries to increase their recognition of women’s roles in conflict prevention and peacebuilding.
